Fairfield,
Connecticut Our goal for this major remodeling of a 1940's Colonial was to create a wonderful country estate embodying the charm and spirit found in the Colonial Revival period of the 1920's. Many additions were made to the originally small, quaint house, making for a rather extensive program. Requirements consisted of a new family room, porch, greenhouse, studio, master bedroom suite, and an additional bedroom. A traditional Colonial front façade carefully guards a private oasis that is concealed in the rear of the house. While the understated character of the existing front façade was maintained, the rear addition liberally uses decorative architectural elements such as cupolas, trellises, and window boxes to create a sense of informal charm and character.
