Westport,
Connecticut A humble ranch home reminiscent of the 1960 era has been radically transformed into a strikingly modern residence. Once completely remodeled, this project totals approximately 400 square feet of additional space. While the front of the house remains comfortably blended into its modest surroundings, the owners requested that the waterfront elevation adapt characteristics more closely related to a modern "Hampton-style" beach house. The eye-catching waterfront façade demonstrates a study in exaggeration, stretching the scale and image of the structure well beyond the actual length of the house. Conceived as an articulated wall, this façade was punctured by a series of architectural events, such as protruding porches, large windows, and an attached exterior stair. Also residing here is the classic ship metaphor, anchoring the home to its site and the heritage of modern architecture. Services |
