Lyme,
Connecticut Having sold their traditional family home in Westchester, these clients were interested in redefining their lifestyle. The art, antiques and furnishings that had grown tired in their large Tudor home were given new life in the simple, gallery-like space that was created. We unified the owner's vision with our own by conceiving a "modern barn" whose form alludes to the agricultural structures on adjacent properties. The simplicity of the front façade was intended to offer a timeless quality when viewed from the distant fields. The back of the house opens up to the site, a Le Corbusier-inspired ship afloat upon the surrounding sea of grass. The curtain wall of glass celebrates and gives intimacy to the relationship with nature. Services |
